I need to join D&B Anonymous.

I have an addiction and I just can't help it. The other night my mother and I went down to Dillards to do some Christmas shopping. The Dooney's were on sale, but when I figured out that they were 60+% off, it wasn't a question of 'should I' it was 'which one'. I found this really cute black one with fancy, multi-colored ducks. I also got the matching wallet, just because I wanted to. I also talked my mom into buying me the matching umbrella. She did and I am getting it for Christmas along with the other D&B bag that she bought me.

I seriously almost had an anxiety attack because I just wanted to buy all of them. Problems.
On another note, the backlight on my alarm clocked stopped working last week. Technically it still worked as an alarm, but when I saw this at the Target i just had to buy it. I think it was a very good decision even though my sisters relentlessly teased me about it.


In conclusion, I just like to buy myself Christmas presents because it's fun. Do you buy yourself presents too?

Here she is with our adopted sister, Kim. We went to Winger's and had a fun night with about 15 of her closest friends. (Let me just say that I'm glad I'm not a teenager anymore.)

My mom got me these two cute ornaments last year. Cupcakes, pink, sparkles. What's not to love?

When I grow up and have a house of my own, I will get this tree. Also, I will decorate the outside of my house in pink and green lights. (I don't really care if the gentleman I live with doesn't approve of the color scheme, he can go decorate his own house if he wants to.)

Turkey Day plans.

Pretty much every day for the past 2 weeks I have gotten a phone call from my Life Coach asking me if I was coming for Thanksgiving.

YES!!!!! I'm coming. I'll be arriving in Long Beach at 7:13 on Wednesday evening*. I expect a sign and balloons and lots of excitement. (Who knows when the rest of my family will be arriving, they have commitment issues.)

*WHY am I flying during this CRAZY time of year?

(P.S. Dear Jenn Jenn, PLEASE come to Utah for Christmas. WE MISS YOU!!!!!)

These are a few of my favorite things...Toddler edition.

I don't have kids, nor do I plan on having them for quite a few years, but sometimes I like to buy things that are marketed toward kids.
I 'love' the smell of this lotion. It's so light and fresh. It just is really luxury.
And, I love this cereal. But, I don't eat it in a bowl with milk. I'll put some in a plastic baggy and munch on it on my way to work in the morning. (Just like a 2 year old. Nice.)

Ok, so now you can go buy these things for your kids (or yourself if you feel so inclined.)

I got this as an email the other day and loved it. I want to frame all of these quotes and hang them on my walls.



In April, Maya Angelou was interviewed by Oprah on her 70+ birthday. Oprah asked her what she thought of growing older. And, there on television, she said it was 'exciting...'

Regarding body changes, she said there were many, occurring every day.....like her breasts. They seem to be in a race to see which will reach her waist, first. The audience laughed so hard they cried. She is such a simple and honest woman, with so much wisdom in her words!

I've hired a personal assistant.

I have found that I work so much, I don't have time to do things like: go shopping, plan vacations or make my bed.

I am so busy I barely even have time to sleep.

I came to the genius conclusion that I need someone to do all of these things for me.

Celebrities have assistants, so why shouldn't I?

I made a phone call bright and early this morning, and my 5 pm tonight I had hired someone.

Basically my whole life I have wished that I could boss someone around and have them do whatever I want. Now, my dreams have come true.

Who did I hire you might ask?

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

It snowed today. But, not like white, fluffy, pretty snow. It was like cold, bone-chilling, icy snow. Eww. So, I decided to be helpful and get out the Christmas decorations. It may be a bit early, but whatever. I also decided that I wanted to make sugar cookies. Please keep in mind that the last time I had 3 assistants and used a cookie mix. This time I did everything from scratch (it was hard).

So anyway, making the cookies isn't much fun, but decorating them is rather luxury. We had neon food color so luckily I got to make pink and green cookies. Awesome.



Anything with pink and sprinkles makes me totally happy.
These two HTM's refused to help me with any of the baking process, but they made sure they were around when it came time to eat fancy cookies. They're special.

P.S. I was just reading through a few blog entries from last year and I used to be a lot funnier. What happened?

My life coach often says that she wishes we could all just be together all of the time. I agree with this. It would make life so much more fun. I miss the kids so much I can hardly stand it. Maybe y'all should come to Utah for Christmas?!?! I think that would be a good decision.

The pivotal of unluxury.

You should probably listen to this while reading this post:

So, I was on my way to work this morning. Since the weather was nice I've been driving the Porsche this week (because hey, why not?). I hadn't even gone 3 miles on the freeway when I start to hear this thud-thud sound and then the car feels like it is on a bumpy country road. So, then I get over into the slow lane and I'm thinking that I can make it to the next exit, but then I look in my rear view mirror and I all I see is smoke. UGH. So I pull over to the shoulder, don't even bother getting out to inspect and immediately call AAA to send help (SOS!!). Then I call my dad and tell him to come pick me up. I waited there for a while, my dad came and then soon after the tow-truck man came and hoisted the Porsche onto his truck bed. It was all pretty exciting and quite frustrating at the same time.

Notes:

-I didn't even cry once. Good on me.

-If you don't have AAA, you need to call them immediately and sign up. It's only like $50 a year, and they will either come and change your tire or tow you to a repair shop. Luxury.

-Apparently this is what I get for 'showing off' the day before. Whatever.

P.S. I watched that make-up channel on YouTube and I definitely agree that homegirl has nice eyebrows.

Problems.

Recently someone pointed out to me that I blog about the same subjects over and over again. In my defense (which the Jazz know nothing about), I've heard that you are supposed to write about what you know. So apparently I know: pink, D&B, vacationing and KK (and a few very other selective things).

That same someone suggested that I blog about 'fighting' with my sisters. Done. I have actually heard from quite a few people that they would love to be a fly on the wall at my house and observe the goings-on of 4 girls. Well, your wish is my command.

-I may have just got into a yelling match with Shacklyn because I 'accidentally' deleted tonight's episode of 'America's Next Top Model'. It really was an accident.

-Camille came down to the kitchen earlier while Shacklyn and I were playing Skip-Bo (awesome game, btw) and showed us that Timpview now has it's own Gossip Girl sight. Then Camille very awkwardly asked if we thought one of the stories about a sophomore was really about her. To which Jac and I replied 'Camille, no one is that obsessed with you.' AWKWARD.

-Shacklyn and I love to call each other 'HTM: Hot Tranny Mess'

-There is a daily battle in our bathroom concerning my eyelash curler. Cameo thinks that mine is the best (duh) and so she steals it EVERYDAY! On mornings when I am out the door by 6, I will wake Camille up and make her go find the eyelash curler. Cruel, yes.

So, I think this should be a new regular feature on my blog. Yea or Nay?

So, I was being nice and helping to hand out candy on Halloween. I had been doing this for about an hour when this older creepy guy (with his grandkids) tells me I have nice boots (like, duh, what other kind would I have) and then says 'I have a treat for you'. (Don't worry, he didn't flash me or anything.) He hands me this yellow piece of paper with some candy attached to it.

I just shut the door and walked into the kitchen (threw the candy away) and read the note. You can read it too:

It says:

"I SERVE those that are looking for innovative ideas to bring YOUR family back to the table, spending more quality time together, increasing your income. I can help with any of these and MORE. Thank you, please give me a call, email or visit my website...I hope someone is PAMPERING you today, because I would LOVE to!"

And then it has her name and contact info.

OK, first of all, who helped her write this? Seriously, like it doesn't even make sense.

I was 'so' upset that someone was soliciting on Halloween. Apparently they missed the GIANT 'NO SOLICITING' sign that I made and put on the front door (another post in itself).

So, being that I am Dani-lee and I don't let things like this go without inserting my 2 cents, I emailed the lady. My email:

Dear Cheryl,
We received a note from you tonight regarding your Pampered Chef business aspirations. It is very embarassing that you would be soliciting yourself on a night that is designed for children to have fun. We would hope that you would take this into consideration and never solicite on a holiday again.

Dani-lee 101

So, I have this good idea for my bog to help me connect better with my readers (all 5 of you). I ran the idea past Lady Gaga (aka Shacklyn) and she agreed that it was indeed a good idea.

So, I thought that I would open up my blog to let you ask me questions. Nothing is off limits (ok, maybe somethings) so you can pretty much ask everything you've ever wanted to know about yours truly. You can even ask the questions anonymously if you're afraid.

Thriller.

Last night I went to go see Thriller. Why, you might ask? Because, when you work at a luxury office like mine and have a great boss, you get to do fun things every now and then. So, anyway, I was a little freaked out by all of these children running around breathing down people's necks. Rest assured that I remained calm and luckily they all left me alone.

I didn't really know what to expect from the show. I guess I thought it was going to be a tribute to MJ or something, but it turned out to be a grown up, Halloween-inspired, somewhat disturbing dance recital. Yeah. But, it's always fun to spend time with my co-workers, my boss and his wife outside of the office. We all get to dress a lot fancier.

P.S. Em- sorry your head is cut-off. It's the demon-child's fault.

Update.

-I went to work today. Probably not the best idea.

-My nutritional intake for the past 2 days has consisted of Sprite and nothing else. Back when I was 12 I would have been thrilled (it was my fav drink), but now it's just too sugary for me. Eww.

-I keep hearing of more and more people getting the Swine flu. Eww, again.

-I'm going to see 'Thriller' tomorrow (as long as I'm feeling better), it should be quite luxury.

Struggs.

I am at home sick with the stomach flu. It is very unluxury.

Also, I am over to my iPhone. It keeps turning off for no apparent
reason. Today I was having a very important conversation with my
cousin about 'New Moon' tickets and it turned off. Whatever to Apple.

Also, I have been forced to watch multiple episodes of 'The Hills'
today because I can't find the channel changer. I was thoroughly
disgusted. Even in my semi-contious state.

90% sure it isn't Swine flu. Yuck.)

Bad Decisions.

I just got off of the phone with my Life Coach. We talked about a lot of stuff, including: boys, my blog, church, church holidays, work and her kitchen remodel. I also got to talk to this young gentleman, Captain Hooks Sparrow (he gets his pirate movies a little mixed up).
I was told that I make bad decisions and that I should be coming down there for Halloween. I agree. I'll do my best to rectify the situation (pronounced sitch-e-a-shun) and come down there ASAP.

Note to self:

You may have too many Dooney & Bourke watches when you are cleaning out your closet and you find one that you didn't even know you had.

-I'll worry about things at work, even though it's a Saturday.
-I'll read my Jen Lancaster book. So, so funny.
-I'll tell my dad how to play a video game that we're trying to beat. It's a team effort.

DJ Dan.

We have an in-house DJ at my place. He sits in the kitchen every night starting at about 8 PM, goes on YouTube, then plays us his favorite songs. We make fun of him, but truly, it's actually quite enlightening to listen to some true musical geniuses (far beyond my normal scope of Jesse McCartney and other top 20 songs). Tonight I sat and listened to the 'set list' for a good half and hour. The DJ spun hits from The Beatles, Joni Mitchell and also this song which I think is quite beautiful:

Happy Sweet 16, Camilley!

I can't believe that my baby sister is turning 16! I remember when we brought Camilley home from the hospital. We hadn't had a baby at our house for such a long time, and it was so much fun having our own baby doll around. Camille is probably my best friend. We get along like two peas in a pod.

Here are 16 reason why I love Camille:
1. Her nickname is Cameo. Awesome.
2. She's gorgeous. Seriously, the girl has flawless skin, perfectly shaped brows, and long California girl hair.
3. She steals my stuff, but I know that it just means I've taught her to have good taste.
4. She's awkward.
5. She is 'always' willing to go with you.
6. She will always help me with my hair.
7. I can pretty much bribe her to do anything by letting her use my stuff.
8. She's very artistic and has a good eye for style.
9. She is great with kids.
10. She is very helpful and is always willing to lend a hand.
11. She's always up for a photoshoot.
12. She cried when she saw Edward come on the screen the first time that she saw Twilight.
13. She is very even tempered and doesn't get upset very easily.
14. I often come home and find her napping in my bed. Oh, Cameo.
15. Homegirl can sing. Like, really sing. She's got some pipes.
16. She's just a really nice girl. I think that everyone one that knows her would agree that she is just a joy to be around.

I'm a little early...

But I can't stop listening to Christmas music. It's cold outside so I think it's perfectly appropriate. My favorite Christmas album is from Mr. Osmond himself. (Don't be thinking I'm weird, because quite a few people I know agree with me.) Seriously, it's good. I would burn you a copy and send it to you, but something is wrong with my computer and I can't burn cd's anymore. Whatever.

Anyway, my favorite song on the album is 'Mary, Did You Know?'. I like to sing along with it. Usually when I'm by myself driving to work at the crack of dawn. Onetime I was taking Jacqueline to the airport really early and I turned it on and serenaded her. I know she loved it.

So, last week, Jacqueline was having a hard time waking up (it was well past noon), and so I went down and turned on her iPod to this song and started performing for her. Something about the magic of my voice woke her from her deep slumbers and helped her prepare to start her day. She then told me I was crazy. Whatever to her.

Pandora.

I can't remember if I've ever blogged about pandora.com before. Let me just tell you that it's wonderful. It's a 'customizable radio station' that you make for yourself. Go to the website, sign up with your email (don't worry they never even send you anything) and then you're free to start being a DJ. All you have to do is type in an artist or song title and it will create a station based on that. It's like magic. They even have an app for it. Awesome.

My 2 current fav stations are: Michael Buble & Sara Bareilles. Seriously makes work go by a lot quicker when you have great music to listen to.

Trashtastic.

I'll be the first to admit that I love stupid t.v. shows. I thought 'Laguna Beach' was like the best thing ever. If the plot is weak and there are hot young people involved I am bound to love it. Thank goodness for the CW; every show fits my requirements for good t.v. I love Gossip Girl and the new 90210 and this year there is a new show called the 'Vampire Diaries'. Jacqueline just got home from an evening of galavanting around town. She came up and told me that she saw Lauren Conrad's (L.C. from 'The Hills') little sister at Sub-Zero in Provo. After a thorough Facebook investigation we concluded that her little sister, Breanna, really is a resident of Provo although we are not exactly sure why. Awkward.

Growing up.

One day I will move out of my fancy pink bedroom (unfortunately). And, when that day comes I am going to need stuff. And not just stuff like shoes, candles and beauty products. Stuff that grown ups needs like plates and utensils and pots and pans. So, I decided that I would start acquiring this kind of grown up stuff. Last Spring Target carried a line of the cutest dinnerware. I couldn't help but to buy some:
It's plastic, but it's totally dishwasher safe so that's good. Right?
Then, my lovely cousin, Jennifer, sent me a giftcard to Anthropologie as a thank you. (I really should have been the one thanking her for letting me hang out with her cute kids.) I was 'so' excited to go on a little shopping spree. So, after much careful looking on the website I decided to purchase this adorable 'fleur de lis' collection of dinnerware:

Rest assured that when the time comes for me do move out I'll do so in style.

Remember a little while back when I blogged about some very fancy shoes?? (Go here if you are a little bit forgetful.) I truly agonized about whether I needed to buy these shoes. They were so fancy, but in the end I just couldn't justify the $400 pricetag (Also, all of the reviews said they were horribly uncomfortable). So, I set out on a mission to make a pair of my own. I found the shoes down in Cali for $17 and I commandeered the flowers from an old wreath my mom had in the basement. I wish the flowers were more pink and less purple, but other than that I think I made a very good (and economical) decision.

Saw this on Friday with my mom for her birthday:
Absolutely adored it. It was simply beautiful. I now am inspired to cook and visit France.

In one particular scene in the movie Julie and her husband are sitting in bed and there are these lovely state prints over their bed. I've looked on Etsy and can't find anything similar. If you see the movie keep an eye out for these, because you'll want to go out and buy them.

P.S. I have the biggest crush on Stanley Tucci.

One time when I was watching the movie I probably pushed the rewind button 20 times at this part. It's just really funny. (And it doesn't hurt that you get to see Channing Tatum without a shirt.)

22 1/2 years later...

My dad was going through some old boxes in the basement and found the hospital bill from when I was born. After insurance and everything I only cost my parents $175.50. He then told me that I was a very good investment. (Awesome.)

He also found a family group sheet (family tree). I found out that I have a distant great-grandmother named Thankful. How cool is that?

What are you reading?

I like to read, and I prefer to read good books. Duh. So, I would like to know what books y'all are reading now, books you have read recently and books that you could read over and over again. I like to have a long list of books in que so that when I'm done with one I can go right to the next one. (Also, if books are popular then I like to get on the wait list at the library quickly so I don't have to wait forever.) I am currently reading this:


I'm trying to finish it before next weekend so that I can go see the movie. It's a good book, kind of hard to get into at first though (and there are some parts that are a little racy). But, overall I would recommend it.

Oh where, oh where, could Danilee be?

If you guessed Wyoming you're right. I spent the majority of this past week in the 'Cowboy State'. Did you know that Wyoming is the least populous state in the nation? Neither did I until I went there and saw how small the towns are. But, don't worry, I was not in Wyoming for a great adventure. This was strictly a working trip (I did manage to squeeze in time for a pedicure though.). We've had some changes recently in our SLC office and so responsibilities have shifted around and I am now in charge of some of the financial things in the office. So I went up to our Rock Springs office to get training since I've never, ever done anything financial before. Thank goodness the ladies up there were so nice and patient. I now feel like I actually have a clue as to what's going on. The true test will come next week when I actually have to start applying what I've learned. Wish me luck.


Luckily they have luxury sunsets in Wyoming.
You'll have to 'big' this pic up so you can see all of the wind thingies in the background. It was a little creepy to come up over a hill and see hundreds of them in the distance. For a second I thought there was an alien invasion going on. haha.
